Common Makeup Mistakes
By: Rachel Broune

If friends are asking you how you enjoyed your hot cocoa and you didn't have hot cocoa, you're probably wearing lip liner that's too dark. Stop it. You look silly. Go find a lip pencil that matches your lip color.
Eyebrows really help express who we are and how we feel. But a majority of women have the wrong shape. Contact a local salon to receive some help. Have them show you how to maintain and fill in with the proper color.
Foundations that tend toward an orangey shade. I know I lot of people whose skin look normal inside, but it's a completly different story once they go outside. You can clearly see weird looking orange or a bit brownish spots on their face.
It's essential to plan your prom dress, hairstyle and makeup in advance in order to look flawless and amazing.
Lipstick color depends on your particular skin tone. But if you have older skin, it's good to first use a lip treatment or balm to moisturize your lips for a smooth base for your lipstick color. Besides making your lips appear younger, a lip balm will also heal parched, dry lips.
Picking a too-light concealer. Concealer's purpose is to hide dark areas on your face. If you pick one that's much lighter than your skin, you'll wind up calling more attention to the area you're trying to hide.
One layer of lip gloss gorgeous. Four layers of gloss ghastly. This is not the time to use the mantra, "the more the merrier." And don't think that the more gloss you put on, the more you'll be kissed. Too much gloss is actually a turn off.
While there may be a few occasions that warrant wearing blue eyeshadow this is usually not a good choice. If you are tired and have even slight shadows around your eyes the blue eyeshadow will magnify them making you appear tired. Unless you are dressing up for Halloween or a theme party your best bet is to stay away from the blue eyeshadow altogether.
Don't: Wear too much makeup or too little. Some women of color apply too much foundation and powder because they are imitating celebrities or they believe that's how makeup is supposed to look thick and cakey. Others, turned off by a "made up" face, wear no makeup at all, or only lipstick.
Tone down cheek color When you've put on too much powder blush, sweep a clean, fluffy brush across your cheek, then wipe it on a towel to remove the excess. Continue brushing and wiping until you get the right intensity. For cream blushes, lightly smooth on a dab of lotion to water down the color.
To cure cellulite, scrub the skin with a bristle brush. Brush in slow sweep up, always toward the heart. Try to do this at least five minutes each day. For cellulite, get the costly herbal wraps offered by top spas. Mix a cup of corn oil with 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice and 2 teaspoons dried thyme. Rub into hip, thigh, and buttock areas. Wrap with plastic cover to lock in body heat. For extra results lay a heating pad over each area for five minutes. Raw potato slices contain potassium to take away dark circles under the eye.
